Superchic Lacquer: Rotten to the Carmeled Core

Press Sample

Happy hump day! This post should have gone up yesterday, but my sick baby had other plans for me. Let's jump right in, shall we?

In yesterday's blog post, I shared swatch photos of shades from the new Dreamology Collection by Superchic Lacquer. It's an awesome collection for you holo lovers, and I am excited to share that she is releasing a second collection of thermal crellies called the Goosebumps Collection! As if that wasn't cool enough, most of the collection also glow under black light UV lighting. I have one of those shades, Rotten to the Carmeled Core, to share with you. Check it out!
Transition state, or what my nails look like most of the time wearing thermal polishes
Warm state. I have to take photos quickly as my nails change very quickly due to the length.
Cold state. This photo shows the two cooler shades perfectly! My fingers are too warm to get a photo of the coldest darker shade fast enough.
Bright neon apple green when warm to carmel to burnt carmel when cool, deliciously loaded with green and copper glitters and shimmer

If this polish doesn't make you think of caramel apples, nothing will! This polish is scrumptiously fall, and it reminds me of strolling through our county fair in North Carolina on a cool day with a caramel apple in hand, usually with a second to take home for future enjoyment! It is such a fun polish, and I love the name! I had no application issues with this polish- it applies well, and the glitters spread nicely over the nail. I used two coats plus top coat for these photos. Unfortunately my black light flashlight ran off on me while I was swatching, probably with the assistance of my toddler, but this shade is supposed to glow under black light.
Thermochromic polishes have a limited shelf life, so to extend the thermal properties, store in a cool place away from sunlight. If you have the space, refrigeration is highly recommended.

Rotten to the Carmeled Core and the other shades from the Goosebumps Collection launch on the Superchic Lacquer Etsy shop here and on the Superchic Lacquer online boutique here today at 4PM PST. Each polish will retail for $10 a piece.

Be sure to follow Superchic Lacquer on FacebookInstagram, and Twitter for shop news and announcements.

What do you think of this polish? Does it make you want a caramel apple *rightnow*? I know I do!

Until next time, dear readers, have a wonderful day!
XO!

Superchic Lacquer: Dreamology for Fall 2015 and NEW Marvel-Star Top Coat

Press Sample

Good afternoon, dear readers! I know I've been quiet on the blog front since my surgery, and I am happy to report that I am doing well and almost back to normal. I'm still supposed to limit my activity and how much I can pick up; following doctor orders is hard when my toddler just wants to climb me! He apparently never got the memo. Ha! Hopefully the next month goes by quickly so we can resume our normal play! Now to today's post!

For today's blog post, I have several shades from the new Dreamology collection by Superchic Lacquer to share with you. This is a collection of 6 power shades with immense colour depth with intense linear holographic effects. You only need one coat to reach full opacity! Heck yeah! I have four of these shades to share with you in addition to a new topcoat, so let's get to it!

Lucid LaLa Land
Intense deep lucid blue
One coat

What a beautiful blue! I always look forward to fall and winter so I an wear these darker blue shades, and Lucid LaLa Land is simply gorgeous! The formula was fantastic and the application was perfect.

Realm of Erotica
Intense racy-red
One coat

Wowza, what a sexy red! I am enamored with this shade, and I'm putting it on my toes later today! I have no issues to report with this beauty, and I recommend it for every red lover!

No Rest For The Wicked
Intense deep emerald green
One coat

While all the shades I reviewed for this collection are stunning, No Rest For The Wicked is my favorite. This emerald green is majestic and has me weak at the knees. The formula was superb, and you're going to want this baby!

Wake Me Up
Intense red-berry
One coat

Be still, my beating heart! I am drawn to these rich berry hues, and I am so glad to see one in this collection! I'm even drooling over the colour looking at these pictures while I write up this post! Ha! Like the others I reviewed, the formula was on point and I have no issues to report.

I am totally in lust over these rich jewel-toned shades from Superchic Lacquer! They are pretty in the bottle, but they spring to life the moment the brush hits your nails. You really can't go wrong with any of these drool-worthy shades! Please keep in mind that because they are one-coaters, they are deeply pigmented. You will want to pair these with a good quality base coat to prevent staining, especially if your nails are porous. I applied these over Superchic Lacquer's Bring It On! base coat and had no staining on my nails whatsoever. Of course you also have to be careful with removal so you don't stain your fingers.

Marvel-Star Top Coat
Neon luminescent liquid macro top coat. Ignite andy polish in your collection with this amazing top coat that glows under black light UV lighting! If you love Marvel, you'll fall in LOVE madly with Marvel-Star this festive season!

Superchic Lacquer is also releasing a new top coat this fall! I used it over the polishes from the Dreamology collection and used my little blacklight to capture the effect.
What a fun effect! I don't spend much time around blacklights any longer- long gone are my nights at the club- but this is really cool and fun to wear! I think some of my Halloween decorations have blacklights so I'll at least get to enjoy this fun top coat around the house, lol! Like the original Marvel top coat, Marvel-Star dries to a rock-hard finish quickly and leaves your manicures with a beautiful shine. It also doesn't dull holos so you can enjoy your polishes whether you're in sunlight or in blacklight.

The Dreamology Collection and the Marvel-Star Top Coat launch on the Superchic Lacquer Etsy shop here and on the Superchic Lacquer online boutique here September 30th at 4PM PST. Each polish will retail for $10 a piece.
Be sure to follow Superchic Lacquer on FacebookInstagram, and Twitter for shop news and announcements.

Superchic Lacquer is releasing another collection tomorrow as well, and I'll have a post with one of those polishes up later today!

Until next time, have a great day!
XO!

Blue Nails for Alopecia Awareness

Happy Friday, dear readers! I hope you are having a wonderful day and have something spectacular planned for the weekend. I've been taking it very easy since my surgery earlier this week, and I think I'm in for a boring weekend while I am in recovery. I'm going a little stir crazy at home, but it's better for me to rest right now, even if it is driving me mad!

For today's blog post, I am sporting blue nails in support of National Alopecia Areata Awareness Month. Alopecia Areata is a type of hair loss due to your immune system attacking your hair follicles. Often hair is lost in patches, and while it usually does grow back, there is always the chance you will lose your hair again. Scientists are conducting research to better understand this autoimmune disease as well as treatment options. Without further ado, here are my blue nails!
I used Zoya Ling as my base colour and then topped my nail off with Pahlish What a Terrible World. I then sealed my manicure off with topcoat.

I hope you enjoyed today's quick post, and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
XO!

Born Pretty Store: Disney Halloween Water Decals

Press Sample

Good morning, dear readers! I have another Halloween-inspired post for you today! I received a package of Disney Halloween-themed water decals from Born Pretty Store to share with you, and I wanted to get them up on the blog so you had plenty of time to order them if you wanted a set for yourself. Let's check out what all is on a sheet and then I'll share my nail art look with you.
Package of Water Decals
Top half of the sheet...
...and the bottom half

I love the variety of Halloween images on this sheet, and I love all the Mickey and Minnie Mouses (Mice?) as well! The images are fun and playful for those of you that prefer a more lighthearted approach to Halloween-themed nails. I remember watching Disney's Halloween Treat when I was a little girl, and this sheet brings back warm memories. Now to see what I did with them!
The images on this sheet are so adorable, and I wanted to let them do the work on my nails rather than cluttering them up with a bunch of other designs. I cut out each piece I wanted on my nails, removed the protective film covering, and soaked the decals for about 15 seconds in water until they slid off of the backing easily. I then placed them with tweezers on my nails, blotted dry, and covered with topcoat to seal them in.

These were really easy to apply, and the only issue I had was cutting out the images. There are several decals tightly packed onto the page, and that did make cutting out the ones I wanted a little tricky as I did not want to destroy the others I did not use yet. This sheet definitely has me eager for Halloween this year!
This particular sheet and other similar but non-Mickey sheets are available for purchase from Born Pretty Store here.

Nail Polishes Used:
Doctor Lacquer: Hinalea Lauwili
Revlon: Black Lingerie
Sweet Heart Polish: Rad
Trust Fund Beauty: Elegantly Wasted

You can save 10% off your purchase of nail art supplies at Born Pretty Store by using discount code QWL91.

What do you think of these water decals? Will you be picking up some for Halloween nail art?

Until next time, dear readers, have a wonderful day!
XO!

Lyn B Designs The Trinity Mini Collection

Press Sample

Good evening, dear readers! I hope you are having a wonderful week thus far! I had my surgery yesterday, and I am now back at home recovering. I've been banished to either my bedroom or the couch so I can heal while my mother-in-law takes care of my boys. That also means I have a little free time to write without interruption! Yay! I have to take advantage of that, so let's do this!
Today's post is for all your Potter fans! Who am I kidding, it's for all the holo polish fans too! Lyn B Designs is releasing a mini collection later this month featuring holographic nail polishes inspired by our favorite trio from the Harry Potter series. Let's check them out!

Potter
Intense black linear holo with deep purple glass flecks

Wowsa! I love love love black polishes when the weather cools down for fall and winter, and Potter is certainly a beauty! I'm going crazy for the dark purple flashes from the glass flecks. The formula was a little on the thick side which made it a little trickier to work with, but a couple drops of thinner fixed it for me. I used three coats plus topcoat for these photos. I almost got away with using two coats, but I was convinced I still saw a little bit of visible nail line.

Granger
Creamy deep pink linear holo with pink glass flecks

Now this is my kind of pink! I adore this deeper pink colour, and the glass flecks are awesome! They are more obvious than shown here but for some reason my camera just couldn't get a great shot of the beautiful flecks. The formula was flawless, and I used three thin coats plus topcoat for these photos.

Weasley
Pumpkin orange linear holo with golden flecks

Yay for orange! I'm quite fond of this shade and fell in love with this stunner as well. The formula was fantastic and easy to work with. It is a little on the sheer side, and I still had visible nail line showing with the three coats plus topcoat I used for these photos. You might want to layer this over a similar shade or add a fourth coat if you prefer an opaque look.

I feel like I should have a favorite from this mini collection, but I can't pick just one. All three shades are gorgeous and must haves for every Potter fan and holo lover.

The Trinity Collection launches on the Lyn B Design etsy shop here September 25th at 7pm EST. You can also follow Lyn B Designs on Facebook here for shop announcements and even more photos.

Until next time, dear readers, have a great night!
