Ellagee Born to Be Brave Collection

Press Sample

Greetings, dear readers! I hope your week has been wonderful thus far! I am thrilled to be sharing the upcoming Lady Gaga-inspired collection with you today! Created by Ellagee in collaboration with Karl Adrian Bass, the seven-piece evocative collection perfectly captures the essence of the Lady Gaga inspiration photos. With varying levels of sparkle, each shade brings the glitz and glamour we've come to know from Lady Gaga; this collection is sure to steal your heart as it has stolen mine! Let's check them out!

The Countess
Two coats plus top coat

A shimmering rich magenta base with shifting blue to lilac flash and silver holographic glitter

I am obsessed with The Countess! The colour is positively exquisite and I love this level of glitter! This applies smoothly and without difficulty. It's definitely one of my favorites from the collection!

Million Reasons
Two coats plus top coat

A brilliant silvery blue base with flash that shifts from pink to blue to lilac, silver holographic microglitter, and linear holographic shimmer

Everyone was abuzz about Lady Gaga's halftime perfomance, and I know many were hoping to see a polish inspired by her outfit. I'm excited to be able to FINALLY share this beauty! This silvery blue holo is glorious! The formula is nice and easy to work with, but you do need to take care not to overwork it during application.

Beautiful Dirty Rich
Two coats plus top coat

A sexy black jelly packed with bright gold and coppery red shimmer and flakes

Dark and brooding, this shade is spectacular and fits the inspiration photo so fantasticly! The name makes this polish even more perfect. I love this polish and the formula is on point.

Velvet Ropes and Guitars
Three coats plus top coat

A vampy deep red jelly with shades of red microglitter plus translucent hot pink microflakes and red shimmer

There is something about a red jelly base polish that is so sexy! Of course I cannot seem to photograph the microglitters in their full glory, but trust me, this beauty is fantastic for any red polish lover! I found the formula to be fabulous as well!

I Am My Hair
Two coats plus top coat

A bright aqua blue base with gold flakes and linear holographic shimmer

While Million Reasons is a silvery Blue, I Am My Hair has more of an aqua lean and admitedly a little more to my personal taste. The formula is so good it practically applies itself to your nails!

Mother Monster
Three coats plus top coat

An ethereal pale lilac crelly with aqua and lavender to pink shifting shimmer

Even though it is described as a pale lilac, the base shade is so pale it looks white until placed next to something that is, in fact, white. Don't get me wrong, this polish is magnificent, but I don't want you to be expecting something a little darker than this. That said, the colours of the shimmer are much darker/more obvious in real life; my camera just souldn't handle the awesomeness of this polish. The formula is a little patchy with the first two coats, but it evened out nicely with the third. Those who paint with super thin coats or with longer nails may find they need a fourth coat for full coverage of the nail line.

Monster Ball
One coat over Mother Monster plus top coat

A clear base with a disco ball mix of metallic and holo glitter in shades of silver, pink, lilac, and bright gold plus silver holographic mini stars

I generally don't wear glitter toppers often, but this one is really cool! While I don't like traditional bar glitters, those in this topper are thinner and shorter and just so much fun! While I found all the polishes in this collection fit their inspirations, Monster Ball is unquestionably inspired by this photo! This applied easily with a dab here and there with no fishing required nor clumping of any of the glitters. As expected with so many glitters, the final result is textured and requires top coat if you prefer smoother nails.

The Born to Be Brave Collection is scheduled to launch on the Ellagee website March 14th at 6pm CST. The full collection can be purchased at a 10% off discounted price of $74 for the first four days after the launch. Afterwards, the collection will go to full price. If you don't want the full collection, each polish can be purchased individually.

In related news, Ellagee is going to be stocked on the Girly Bits Cosmetics website as well! The Born to Be Brave Collection, Jewel Encrusted, Vacation, and two Girly Bits exclusives are also scheduled to launch March 14th.

What do you think of the upcoming Born to Be Brave Collection? Is there a particular shade catching your attention? I'd love to hear from you!

Until next time, dear readers, have a wonderful day!

LynB Designs: The Bright Side Collection

Press Sample

Happy Monday, dear readers! I hope this post finds you well and you've had a wonderful weekend! To kick off the week, I wanted to share the upcoming LynB Designs collection. Inspired by Always Look on the Bright Side of Life by Monty Python, The Bright Side Collection consists of eleven beautiful shades; there is definitely something for everyone to enjoy! Let's jump in and check them out!

Some Things in Life are Bad
Three coats plus top coat

Deep green crelly with contrasting purple shimmer and silver galaxy holo.

Some things may be bad, but this polish certainly isn't one of them! This polish is stunning and one of my favorites from this collection. The formula is fantastic and this shade applied like a dream!

Retail: $10

Other Things Just Make You Sweat and Curse
Three coats plus top coat

Bright red jelly base with linear holo and pinky red shimmer

Retail: $10

I love glittery jelly shades, so I am so excited to see this as part of the collection! It is easy to apply but take care not to overwork the formula as it does get harder to work with if overworked. This is such a happy polish and makes me ready for spring!

Don't Grumble, Give a Whistle
Three coats plus top coat

Thistle colored crelly with holo shimmer and gunmetal flakies

Retail: $10

I'm not overall a fan of lighter purple polishes, but I am taken by this beauty! I just love the addition of the shimmer and flakies, and there is just the perfect amount to make it fun and interesting. The formula is a little on the thinner side so you may need to take caution so as to not have flooding on your cuticles and side walls, but overall it has a great formula!

Laugh and Smile and Dance and Sing
Three coats plus top coat

Periwinkle blue crelly with purple glow and shimmer

Retail: $8

Laugh and Smile and Dance and Sing is such a pretty colour, and I love to see how much it glows! That being said, the formula is a little tricky to work with and does require some patience. I had some trouble getting it to apply evenly and smoothly, as you may notice from the photos. Pastels are admitedly not my strong suit so you may have more luck with application than I did.

Don't Be Silly Chumps
Three coats plus top coat

Medium cool toned purple crelly base with shimmer that shifts from blue to gold to green

Retail: $10

This polish is exquisite and another one of my favorites from the collection! The formula is fantastic as well and applies easily with minimal effort required.

Death's the Final Word
Three coats plus top coat

Tan creme base with glow and shimmer that shifts from pink to silver to green

Retail: $10

Who knew that death would come with so much glow?!? This polish is stunning and one of the highlights from the collection. The formula is fantastic and easy to work with, although you do have to take care not to press to much with the brush which can result in a little uneveness.

Life's a Laugh and Death's a Joke It's True
Three coats plus top coat

Deep brown jelly base with gold and bronze flakies

Retail: $8

This colour is one of the most unique in my collection, and while it is admitedly not for everyone, I quite like it! It also applies smoothly and easily so I am happy to report it has a fantastic formula.

What've You Lost? Nothing
Three coats plus top coat

Pale grey creme base with golden shimmer and small golden flakes

Retail: $8

What a pretty colour! While it looks a little more grey in the bottle, it looks much more subtle against my olive skin tone. This is one of those shades that your skin colouring will dictate just how grey it looks, and I can promise it is definitely worth giving some love. The final look is so beautiful and soft and one of the must haves of the collection.

You'll See It's All a Show
Three coats plus top coat

Super sparkly pink crelly with pink galaxy holo glitters and berry galaxy holo glitters

Retail: $10

Fewer things scream spring more than a vibrant pink shade, and I adore the addition of the galaxy holo glitters! It's fun and bright, and the formula is really fabulous.

Give the Audience a Grin
Three coats plus top coat

Red orange jelly base with linear holo and red gold glass fleck

Retail: $10

I am completely in love with this polish, but then as an avid orange lover, I'm sure that comes as no surprise to anyone. I'm also happy to report that the formula is superb and it is another standout from the collection.

Life's a Piece of S**t
Two coats plus top coat

Red toned brown crelly base with intense linear holo

Retail: $10

Life may be shit from time to time, but this polish certainly isn't! This colour is warm and comforting, and the formula is fabulous and on point.

The Bright Side Collection launches on the LynB Designs website located here this Friday, March 3rd at 7pm EST. To celebrate the launch of this fantastic collection, there is a special introductory discount code for a limited time! Use the code BRIGHT to save 50% off any order at the shop. Do you have any favorite shades from this collection? There are several great polishes to choose from, and my favorites at Give the Audience a Grin, Some Things in Life are Bad, and What've You Lost? Nothing. I'd love to hear what your top picks might be!
